Insight: When we see a triangle, we view it not as three lines and three angles, but as one memorable shape -- a triangle. Grouping Shapes

When the placement of the shapes is adjusted, we tend to merge the independent parts and begin to perceive them as a group or unit.



Similarly, when we look at a tree, we perceive it as a unit although we know it to have leaves, branches and bark.
