XuM images of a rod, teardrop and dumbbell shaped particle:
- The rod shaped particle contains numerous internal pores and inclusions. Closer examination reveals that the pores are not quite spherical - may have formed by the translational break-up of a thin jet of molten regolith.
- The teardrop shaped particle also contains numerous internal pores. XEDS spot analysis reveals that the smaller more dense components on the surface consist primarily of iron.
- The dumbbell particle has more dense material located at the extremities while the internal pores seem to have congregated towards the center - centrifugation has taken place.
