Requesting Materials

Generally, to obtain access to manuscript and archival materials not held in the Lehigh Libraries or Special Collections, you will need to visit the institution which owns the materials.

In certain situations, however, an archivist may make photocopies of materials and send them to you if you can identify the specific part of the collection involved and if this is allowed by their policy. Contact the archivist via their website or telephone to determine if this is permitted.

In some situations, our Interlibrary Loan department may be able to obtain these copies for you. Interlibrary Loan can also try to obtain the microfilm of specific years of newspapers that we don’t own, since some libraries will let us borrow this material. Check with Patricia Ward,  ILL Department  (610) 758-3055

Please contact Lois or Ilhan of Special Collections or any Lehigh reference librarian for additional help with finding and requesting materials.
