NUCLEAR PROJECTS


TVA Watts Bar Units 1 and 2 – While employed by Ebasco Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Manager for a staff 165 engineers and designers engaged in the completion of the design of the TVA Watts Bar Unit 1.  Responsible for staff planning and budget management of approximately $20M/year.  Also responsible for the preliminary staffing for the engineering completion of TVA Watts Bar Unit 2.  Responsible for the technical quality of the engineering work and conformance with client and corporate engineering procedures and industrial codes and standards

WPPSS Units 1-5 – While employed at the Washington Public Power Supply System Corporate Headquarters, managed the Design Assessment Department. Responsible for the interdisciplinary review of engineered systems.  Prepared annual work, budget, and schedule reports and forecasts for the department.  Responsible for department staffing.  Conducted personnel performance reviews and interviews and hiring of new engineering and clerical staff.  Provided technical direction to a staff of senior level engineers engaged in the design review of nuclear safety systems.  While employed at the WNP-3 Project, managed the developed of the Engineering Baseline that included a description of the work scope, schedule, and budget for the completion of over 1,000 engineering tasks.  Established a Project Engineering interdisciplinary design review program for the technical and operational review of power plant systems.  Provided technical direction to a staff of engineers engaged in the technical review of the project Architect-Engineer's design.  Established design criteria and monitored the A/E engineering performance.  Prepared the engineering and design of the fire protection system both as a member of the WPPSS engineering staff and later as a member of the Ebasco engineering staff.  This included preparation of fire zone maps and NRC Appendix R, FSAR and contractor specification and drawing reviews.

PG&E Diablo Canyon Unit 1 and 2 – While employed by Pacific Gas & Electric Company, responsible for system design and approval of mechanical drawings for the balance of plant (BOP) systems for the Diablo Canyon Power Plant.  Provided mechanical engineering coordination for other discipline drawings.  Provided assistance to other projects requiring fluid analysis and computer programming.  Provided technical assistance to the B31.1 Subcommittee in writing the "Non-Mandatory Appendix for Safety Relief Valve Installations."  Participated in the engineering and design of the fire protection system.  Assisted in the preparation of the fire protection section of the FSAR. Provided technical interface with the NRC and project insurers.
