Grand Coulee Hydroelectric Project, US
Bureau of Reclamation – Project Manager for the design and
specifications for fire protection, HVAC modifications, and new plant with
underground water systems at the Grand Coulee Project. The work included
retrofit modifications to the Left and Right Power Plants, the Pump/Generating
Plant and the 115 kV, 230 kV and 500 kV switchyards. The work also
included preparing fire zone maps, hydraulic modeling of various fluid systems
and the design of new fire water pumping systems. System verification
work required extensive field walk downs to document modifications to the
original systems.
Milltown
Rehabilitation Project –
Lead Mechanical Engineer providing supervision for turbine and mechanical
equipment layout, specifications and calculations for the low head 12 MW
Milltown powerhouse rehabilitation for Montana Power Company.
Sayles
Flat Hydroelectric Project –
Lead Mechanical Engineer providing supervision for the hydraulic turbine and
mechanical equipment layout, specifications, and calculations for the 5 MW
Pelton turbine installation for a private owner.
SOFAR
Upper Mountain Project –
Lead Mechanical Engineer involved with development and evaluation of turbine
generators and major valves for a planned 100 MW hydroelectric project at
Placerville, California. Also performed preliminary designs for the three
powerhouse installations for the 1,300 and 1,850 feet head Pelton
units and 225 feet head Francis unit. Prepared the project hydraulic
turbine specifications. Participated in contract negotiations with potential
equipment suppliers.
Terror Lake Hydroelectric Project – Lead Mechanical Engineer responsible for the preparation of system calculations and equipment specifications for two Pelton turbines rated at 10 MW and 1,200 feet of head for a new powerhouse on Kodiak Island, Alaska. Other duties included design of powerhouse mechanical systems, vendor submittal review, and office support for construction activities. Prepared startup and testing document. Assisted in the startup and performance tests for the hydraulic turbines and mechanical systems.
