The change in me
My views of teaching and learning have been greatly influenced by the material and discussions in my Technology of Teaching and Learning class as well as my experience with a unique space travel simulation classroom at Schnecksville Elementary School, "Mission Control/Blake Shuttle." My earlier educational experiences and philosophy of teaching and learning were those I had experienced in traditional classrooms. However, I realize that the social and working environments of today have changed and that educational environments have to change as well. I believe it is essential for education to provide the appropriate learning opportunities and conditions for students in today's society. Students come to the classroom with different experiences, perspectives and expectations as a result of their exposure to technology tools, such as computers, and the information that is available as a result of advancements in technology. In addition, the values and skills that are necessary for success outside of the classroom have changed and the curriculum must be designed to provide appropriate teaching and learning.
