Instructions for Email Backup using Netscape 4.7X:
(Please note these instructions are for ONLY the Netscape versions referenced
above.)
Using the instructions below we will be backing up the entire profile file.
To avoid backing up unnecessary files, you should empty the cache before proceeding.
Step 1: Empty Cache
1. Open the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
2. Under the Advanced category, click Cache. (If no subcategories are
visible, double-click Advanced to expand the list.)
- Clear Memory Cache: Click this to clear the memory cache. (not
necessary for backup)
- Clear Disk Cache: Click this to clear the disk cache.
Step 2: Copy folder to Backup Media (Disk or LAN Space)
1. Completely exit out of Netscape.
2. Open Windows Explorer.
3. Locate the profile(s) you wish to back up (c:\program files\netscape\users\xxx9,
where xxx9 is your id).
4. Right click on your profile folder (xxx9) and select copy.
5. Locate the drive that has your backup media (Zip Drive, LAN space, etc.)
and right click on the drive.
6. Select Paste from the menu. The files will be copied.
