College of Business and Economics
Class of 2001 and 2002
Computer Proficiency Exams

Members of the Class of 2001 will earn two required credits toward graduation by passing two computer proficiency exams and Bus 4. Members of the Class of 2002 will earn two required credits toward graduation by passing two one-credit courses: Bus 3 and Bus 4, Computer Modules I and II. Essentially the requirements are the same--only the difference is that starting with the Class of 2002, the program is more structured.

Class of 2001 Tutorials for Computer Modules A and B were offered for members of the Class of 2001 for the last time during Fall 98. They are not being offered again in Spring or Fall 99.

Modules C is now available only as a one-credit pass/fail course, Bus 4. The course meets twice a week for 50 minutes and runs for 7 weeks.

Class of 2002 Members of the Class of 2002 are required to pass Bus 3 and Bus 4, Computer Modules I and II, in order to graduate. Bus 3 covers what was Module A (Windows 95/8, the Internet and PowerPoint) and Module B (Excel). Bus 4 covers what was Module C (Access). Both courses will be graded on a pass/fail basis. Students will be rostered for specific sections.

Bus 3 and 4 are regular classes; attendance is required--they are not voluntary.

Bus 3 will be offered Fall 98 and Spring 99 for members of the Class of 2002. Bus 4 is being offered for the first time in Spring 99. It will be offered again in Fall 99.

Bus 3 covers Windows 95/8, the Internet and PowerPoint for roughly five weeks. A midterm proficiency exam follows. The last seven weeks covers Excel followed by another proficiency exam.
