Web Page:
The web page http://www.lehigh.edu/~sgb2/sgb2.html
contains 24 semesters worth of X-Problems, required notes on five key topics
and a tutorial on how to use the HP 12C financial calculator.
Grade:
85% of the course grade is determined by the equal weighting of your
three highest curved scores on the three in-class 75-minute exams and the
two-hour final exam. If you miss an exam for any reason, you forfeit
the opportunity to have your lowest exam score dropped and your average
will be based on the other three exams. If you are satisfied with your
grade after the three in-class exams, you do not need to take the final
exam. Therefore, you should make every effort to take all three in-class
exams.
15% of the course grade is determined by a required FSL (Financial Services Lab) assignment (5%) and participation and attendance in recitation and lecture (10%).
Course Policies:
The final exam is comprehensive in nature and is required of any student
who misses an hour exam. In the unlikely event that two hour exams are
missed, a grade of zero will be recorded for one of them. There are
no make-ups for missed hour exams. If you need to miss an hour exam
due to an athletic contest, you must notify the instructor at least one
week prior to the exam with a letter from your coach. To ensure consistency,
all
questions regarding the grading of an exam question must be raised within
one week following the return of the exam and will be decided by the TA
who graded the question. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Assignments:
The reading assignments should be completed prior to lecture, and the
written problem assignments must be completed prior to recitation.
Calculators:
All students are required to bring and be able to use a financial calculator
for exam problems. If you do not already have a financial calculator, the
Hewlett-Packard 12C or 10BII is recommended.
Course Learning Objectives:
The four primary learning objectives of the course are:
