Enter the discount rate and all of the cash flows in the appropriate fields. Use the mouse or tab key to move between fields.

Enter all cash outflows (including the initial outlay) as negative numbers and all cash inflows as positive numbers.

For each cash inflow, enter the appropriate number of periods (default value is 1).

You can enter the discount rate either as a decimal or as a percentage. In other words, you can enter the discount rate as .065 or 6.5.

When you have entered all the needed information, click on either the NPV or IRR button.

Suppose you want to find the NPV of this proposal: Outlay = -1000; CF1 = 400 for 3 periods, CF2 = 300 for 2 periods and CF3 = 200 for 3 periods; and discount rate = 10%.

Enter the following data in any order: CF0 = -1000, CF1 = 400, n1 = 3, CF2 = 300, n2 = 2, CF3 = 200, n3 = 3, Discount Rate = .10 and click the NPV button. Answer = 694.75.

Suppose you want to find the project's IRR. Simply click the IRR button. Answer = 30.47%.
