Yes, Lehigh, there is an excellent pizza house in South Bethlehem. We visited Alpha Pizza Pi on a recent Tuesday night. For this review, Ron's wife who is taking an undergraduate course volunteered because our freshman had an unexpected conflict in his schedule. The dining room was decorated with faux Gauguin-like paintings, and with words and their definitions taped to the walls. No sticky tables at this restaurant and the service was quick and very friendly. As an added bonus, we were able to enjoy our conversation because the floor was carpeted. The restaurant is accessible to persons with disabilities. We give APP 7 out of 8 slices although one of our raters gave a 6 (she once worked behind a pizza counter). Although the pizza was not thin crust or coal-fired, the crust was flavorful and the last piece was a crunchy as the first. No grease. Canned crushed tomatoes were used to enhance the cheese flavor. The pepperoni was spicy and plentiful. The sausage could have used more fennel but was aromatic and blended well with the fresh mushrooms. These pizzas were attractive and needed no added flavor enhancers such as oregano, powdered garlic, or dried hot peppers. APP's pies are better than any corner pizza in NYC. Reviewed by:
