Familiarize yourself with the course web site:

It is very important that you go through and examine the main page of the course web site. The system, which is known as BlackBoard/CourseInfo, is used by many courses offered at Lehigh and elsewhere. In particular we ask you to do the following:

a) push aside or minimize the present window so that you expose the main page and examine the various buttons on the left menu.

b) locate the first assignment for the course HW0 ( for home work of unit zero)

c) locate and investigate the Assignments button which must be used to submit the assignments

d ) restore the page of unit zero.

Since you are reading this page you must have also seen the page OUTLINE. Notice also that you can link back to OUTLINE from the second button on top of the present page. The OUTLINE is a very important page of this course. It lists all the units (this is unit zero) and links to their corresponding pages. These links to units are in the middle column of the outline. The left column contains the links to the timeline of the course, which lists the suggested times of completing the various units as well as some deadlines for exams. The right column provides links to the assignments.

Install the software to your computers:You must have received a CD with the software needed to write, compile and execute the programs we will be writing.Instructions for its installation were also included ( they can also be obtained here) . Here is a link to a complete list of the software and where it is available if you on campus, off campus, or a WIRED student. Please go through the installation and check the software by writing and executing a very simple program as explained in the step by step procedure

Send an e-mail:Send an e-mail to your instructor which identifies you (name, phone, address, school etc.) and explains which of the above tasks have been successfully completed. This is also a good opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the course and its delivery mechanism.

Start working on HW0
