lim x® ¥  Ö   x2+1   -1 x = lim x® ¥  æ è Ö   x2+1   -1 ö ø 1 x ( x) 1 x  (multiply top and bottom by x) = lim x® ¥  æ ç è Ö   [(x2+1)/(x2)]   - 1 x ö ÷ ø 1  (distribute) = lim x® ¥    æ  ú Ö x2+1 x2   - 1 x  (The denominator is 1 now, so drop it) = lim x® ¥    æ  ú Ö 1+ 1 x2   - 1 x  (simplify in the radical) =   ___ Ö1+0   -0 (Finally take the limit). = 1
