How do I convert my email from POP to IMAP?
If you have used Netscape in the past as a POP user, you must run the IMAP setup program IMAP Setup from the Account Maintenance Page. This utility converts your existing mail, if any, to an IMAP-based format. If have never used Netscape before, you do not need to run this utility.I get an error that my disk quota has been exceeded. What happened and what do I do about it?Once you convert your mail to IMAP, you must log onto Netscape and configure it appropriately. See the IR Help Desk document Configuring Netscape v 4.7 for IMAP for assistance in configuring Netscape.
Before configuring Netscape for IMAP, you should ensure that you are running Netscape at a version higher than 4.0x. To see what version you are currently running, click on Help in the toolbar (at the top of this screen), then click About Communicator. The most current version of Netscape is available via the WinInstall (or Picture Taker) icon on your desktop.
If you are an IMAP user, your mail.lehigh.edu Inbox cannot exceed 20meg (or about 20,000kb) and your remaining mail.lehigh.edu folders cannot collectively exceed 40meg (or about 40,000 kb). If you exceed these quotas, you may be unable to send or receive email. To avoid this problem, you should perform regular "clean up" maintenance on your email account. See Clean Up Tips for assistance. Note: There are no limits for your Local Mail folders, but it's still a good idea to perform periodic maintenance on these folders. If you have already gone over the IMAP limit, you will be given 7 days to perform this maintenance. If you fail to do this within 7 days, you must contact Margaret Petrovich to request a temporary increase to your quota. She can be reached at Ext. 83830 or at mjp3@lehigh.edu
I want to get rid of an IMAP-converted folder, but it won’t let
me delete it. I get an error: “The current command did not succeed. The
mail server responded: RENAME failed: Can’t create mailbox node /home/userid/mail/Trash/:
File exists”. Why does this happen and is there a workaround?
(From Netscape v 4.7 Release notes) Certain servers (i.e., University of Washington) may prevent you from renaming or deleting subscribed mail folders if you have specified that deleted messages should be automatically moved to the Trash folder. If you try to delete a mail folder and then see an error message that the command failed, you should choose Subscribe from the File menu, and then unsubscribe your Trash folder and leave it unsubscribed.”The Trash folder still shows up in the folder list, and folder deletes work properly. To delete a folder simply elect it and hit the Delete key. You get two confirmation boxes: "This mail server cannot undo folder delete, delete anyway?", and "Deleting '(null)' will delete all of the messages it contains. Are you sure you still want to delete this folder?" Click on OK for both.
