The purpose of the Lehigh University Police Department is to protect and serve the Lehigh University Community. All Lehigh University Police Officers are certified Crime Prevention Practitioners through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime & Delinquency.
There are two Community Police substations located on campus. Five Community Police officers are assigned to the substation located in Campus Square , Room A105. Another Community Police officer works out of the substation located at Saucon Village , Building 10, Apartment 111 , Duh Dr.
The role of the Community Police Unit is to promote a safe campus environment. The Community Police provide a regular police presence on campus, and function primarily as a motorcycle, bicycle and foot patrol unit.
The Community Police substations are stocked with Crime Prevention material which is available to the public. The Community Police provide Crime Prevention programs to the community, including bicycle safety, seatbelt safety, seatbelt compliance checks (Operation Mobilization), crime prevention and crime reduction. The Community Police are available to address any issues the community may have, and be a point of contact for the Police Department.
The goals of the Community Police Unit are to work with the University community to understand the varied concerns and relationships between University students, faculty and staff, as well as city residents. Our objective is to help improve these relationships through friendship, trust and mutual respect. The community is encouraged to address any issues or concerns with the Community Police Unit.
